My Lyme Disease Journey and Life-Changing Treatment with IAH Wellness
Eleven years ago, I was bitten by a tick in the Pacific Northwest. At the time, I thought nothing of it. A month later, I was rushed to the ER with heart palpitations and severe symptoms resembling a heart attack. Doctors found nothing conclusive and sent me home.
The next five weeks were brutal. I experienced extreme gut pain, numbness, burning and stabbing pains, dizziness, and severe exhaustion. I lost sixty pounds in just five weeks and felt like I was dying. Despite countless doctor visits over the next few months, I was repeatedly told nothing was wrong.
Eventually, I connected with a local doctor who recommended a comprehensive blood panel — a decision that turned out to be life-saving. The results revealed I had Lyme disease along with two co-infections: Babesia and Q fever, conditions rarely acknowledged in the Pacific Northwest. Without her expertise, these would have been missed entirely. Though initial treatments brought good relief, flare-ups continued on and off for the next ten years, often sending me back to the ER and requiring another round of antibiotics.
In July 2024, my health collapsed again. I suffered a heart attack and a severe nervous system crash, temporarily losing the ability to move or feel my body. Over six months, I underwent extensive testing — CT scans, MRIs, X-rays, and a brain angiogram. While the angiogram revealed some stenosis issues, nothing significant enough to explain the persistent dizziness and “swampy head” feeling was found. I couldn’t walk, sit up for long, or manage basic tasks like putting on my socks or getting to the bathroom without assistance. My condition refused to improve.
Up until then, my health had generally been good, and we hadn’t seriously considered that Lyme or co-infections might be the cause of these severe new symptoms. I decided to get tested again — and both Lyme and Babesia came back positive. For the first time, I began researching the connection between Lyme disease and heart issues, eventually learning about Lyme carditis and its treatment care through IV-administered antibiotics.
Determined to find a better solution than just having a loop recorder implanted in my chest, I started looking into more advanced Lyme treatment options. That’s when I discovered IAH Wellness in Andorra. What stood out was their cohesive treatment plan, their use of IV therapy including IPT treatment, and their honesty about possible outcomes. There was no pressure — just thorough evaluations, thoughtful conversations, and genuine care. After several video consultations and a pre-treatment protocol, my wife and I traveled to Andorra for a six-week program.
The treatment was tough, but the care was outstanding. A doctor and nurse monitored me closely during every session, adjusting treatments as needed, with a hospital just 500 meters away for added peace of mind. The clinic staff was compassionate, attentive, and supportive — a level of care I’ve never experienced anywhere else. Even the hotel staff went out of their way to try to meet our needs.
It wasn’t until the last week that I began to notice improvements.
3 Months after treatment, I’m walking 10K a day, working outdoors, and enjoying my normal routine again. My quality of life has dramatically improved, and I continue to get better week by week in the post-treatment phase.
